From the outside, the Treasure Island Music Festival seems like a recipe for disaster: packing dozens of bands and thousands of music fans onto a small, man-made island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay with virtually no parking and severely limited transportation options. But, year after year, Treasure Island continues to be one of the Bay Area's most pleasant festival experiences with a fleet of buses shuttling passengers from AT&T Park with minimal waiting and a layout that guarantees people who want to see every artist playing can do so with ease. And with this year's lineup, we can see why someone might want to make sure they catch everything. Headliners include a Thom Yorke/Flea collaboration, Atoms For Peace and Beck. Rounding out the lineup for the two-day festival James Blake, Animal Collective and garage rock duo the Japandroids. While the actual schedule has yet to be released, typically the festival is divided up with more electronic and dance-oriented acts performing on Saturday, with Sunday having more of an indie-rock flavor. The festival runs October 19-20 and tickets go on sale on Friday, May 31st at 10 a.m.. Check out this slideshow featuring all of the artists performing at the 2013 festival: Continue reading...
